Opening of global bulk grain and oil industry summit to promote cooperation between Chinese and foreign grain and oil enterprises
BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) On July 14, the 8th Global Bulk Grain and Oil Industry Summit kicked off in Chengdu, Sichuan. Major large-scale bulk grain and oil producers, processors, traders, industry associations, scientific research institutions and machinery and equipment manufacturers from many countries and regions around the world attended the meeting. The global bulk grain and oil industry summit was hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Food, Livestock and Animals. Domestic and foreign bulk grain and oil experts gave special speeches and various forms of discussions and exchanges on the supply and demand situation of the world grain and oil market, food hygiene and safety, product marketing and related new technology issues.

Bian Zhenhu, president of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Food, Livestock and Animals, said that China’s continuous opening-up has contributed a lot of positive energy to the global economic recovery. He said, "Despite the downward pressure on economic development, the trade of bulk grain and oil products between China and the international community has risen and fallen, fast and slow, but it is undeniable that China is the most reliable driving force and kinetic energy for the demand for grain and oil products in large economies." Bian Zhenhu believes that China’s domestic consumer market has huge capacity, great potential and considerable prospects, which will be beneficial to the development of various forms of cooperation in the grain and oil field for a long time. He expressed full confidence in the large-scale grain and oil cooperation in the global field.

As one of the partners of this summit, the Sustainable Palm Oil Roundtable Initiative (RSPO) attaches great importance to the role and position of China’s sustainable palm oil import and export in promoting the transformation of the global palm oil market, and is committed to promoting RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil to become the industry norm in China. Darrel Webber, CEO of RSPO, said that RSPO currently has more than 2,900 members worldwide, and all members are committed to producing, purchasing and trading palm oil in a sustainable way. China is the second largest palm oil importer and the third largest palm oil consumer in the world. Darrel Webber revealed, "RSPO and China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Food, Livestock and Animals are jointly working out a report, which can let you know the consumption situation of palm oil in China and provide you with necessary information and help." It is reported that "China Sustainable Palm Oil Supply Chain Forum-RSPO China Forum" was held in Chengdu on July 13th, which introduced the development of RSPO in China and its expectation for the future sustainable palm oil, and actively advocated the development of sustainable palm oil in China through multi-party cooperation.
