Introduction to the life of Samuel Hung

Samuel Hung

Sanmao, Hong Jinbao’s baby name, was born on December 11, 1949. Like Jackie Chan, he received professional training in Peking Opera from Master Yu Zhanyuan of the China Academy of Drama when he was a child. Sanmao ranks first in the "Seven Xiaofu" and is known as the senior brother. Like other Peking Opera academies, in order to show respect for Master Zhanyuan, each of them must have the word "Yuan" in their stage names, and Sanmao’s stage name is Yuan Long. In the 1980s and 1990s, a closer look revealed that "Yuan X" was everywhere in Hong Kong action movies. Yuan Biao, Yuan Hua, Yuan Bin, Yuan Kui, Yuan Wu, Yuan Bao and so on. These people also officially carried the banner of Hong Kong action movies. By the way, the "Yuan" generation led by Yuan Xiaotian was actually a member of the Chinese Academy of Drama. Yuan Xiaotian was a martial arts instructor in the academy, and his children also studied in the Chinese Academy of Drama, but when Jackie Chan and the others first entered the school, those people of the "Yuan" generation may have left there.

Sanmao became Jackie Chan’s senior brother after their senior brother Yuan Ting escaped. At that time, Sanmao was also quite domineering in the drama school, often bullying junior students including Jackie Chan. Of course, now it seems that it is just a childish behavior of children.

One of the characteristics that distinguishes Sanmao from other action actors is that he is fat. In fact, his fat comes from an injury. During a training session, Sanmao was hospitalized because he broke his ankle.

A closer look at Sanmao reveals another scar on his upper lip, which is related to a fight he had. For young people, impulsiveness seems to be synonymous with them. Once in a nightclub, in a scuffle over a girl, the girl’s boyfriend used a broken bottle to disfigure him forever. In retaliation, Sanmao beat the man unconscious and left two of his accomplices bleeding in the sink.

After the dissolution of the Drama Academy, Sanmao was one of the earliest members of the Golden Harvest Company. During the Bruce Lee era, Sanmao was already the resident martial arts instructor of the Golden Harvest Company. Sanmao participated in the filming of Bruce Lee’s "Jingwu Gate", while Jackie Chan, Yuan Hua and others were still small martial arts at that time, and Yuan Hua also served as Bruce Lee’s stand-in. It is said that Sanmao once tried martial arts with Bruce Lee in the corridor of the Golden Harvest Company, and he even tied, but there were no witnesses at that time, who could prove who was right and wrong?

The 1972 film "Aikido" was Sanmao’s first starring film, in which he played the second male lead. In 1973, he played Bruce Lee in "Enter the Dragon", and later directed "Breaking the Ring", "Shaolin Gate" and other films. The 1977 film "Sande Monk and the Rice Six" was Sanmao’s first directorial film, and also served as the protagonist of the film and martial arts director. Then he worked with Liang Jiaren on "Fat Dragon Crossing the River" and "Mr. Zan and Looking for Qian Hua" in 1978. Later, he formed the Garbo Film Company with Liu Jiarong and Mai Jia, and made two films. In 1978, he made "Tiger Frog" and in 1979, he made "Fighting Single Knife and Killing Gun". The 1979 film "Zajia Kid" made his junior brother Yuan Biao popular. Sanmao’s "Lucky Star Series" should be a more impressive film, and Hong Jiaban also won the 1983 Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Action Design for "Five Lucky Stars". Jackie Chan, Yuan Biao, and Hong Jinbao’s "Fantasy Trio" films have long been recognized as classics of Hong Kong action movies. "Dragon’s Heart" personally thinks it is a rather interesting film. Although it lost to Zheng Zeshi’s "Fat Cat" at the box office, it is one of the few major drama works of Sanmao, from which it can also be seen that Sanmao and others are skilled in acting skills and skills. In the 1990s Jackie Chan works, Sanmao also participated in two films, "The Human Torch" and "A Good Man", as action director and director respectively, which was also their last collaboration.

The current Sanmao seems to be less active in movies. There are several works in TV dramas, and they are all shot in the United States. The quality is okay, but now it looks like Sanmao is indeed much older!

Sanmao’s wife is Gao Lihong, who once won the championship in the Miss Hong Kong beauty pageant. Later, she joined the film and television industry and decided to become a martial arts actor, so she joined the Hong family class, and later tied the knot with Sanmao. Gao Lihong’s performance in "Oriental Condor" should be quite impressive. Sanmao also had a fight with her, and Sanmao did not show any mercy, but in real life, I think Sanmao more reflects his gentleness!
